For my first time using Google Alerts I found it an easy and convenient tool to use. One of the Google Alerts I subscribed to was for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The new photo of Dane DeHaan as the Green Goblin. The photo looks amazing and so far Dane DeHaan has impressed me in everything I have seen him in. Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn and the Green Goblin, from what I have seen, seems to be a good fit. DeHann, in previous roles, has done the villainous role extremely well and can give fans of the franchise faith that this new instalment will be good.
One issue I have with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is that, at the moment, it seems like Sony is releasing too much from the movie. With the all the trailers and new footage as well as the photos coming out it seems to be revealing too much about the film. It is just a marketing strategy from Sony to keep people talking about the film but some things I would prefer not to know until seeing the film.
As far as the Google Alerts system, it seems to be a good way to keep up to date with things that interest you. It is very convenient with an e-mail being sent to you with the days news on that topic.
The new trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past hit the web and has definitely surpassed expectations. The first trailer was very positively reviewed and the expectation for the second trailer was very high. The trailer is action packed and raises some question about what direction the film will go, in a positive way. It seems as if, judging from the trailers alone that the X-men will return to form with Bryan Singer, who directed the first two X-Men films, returning.
The trailer was very interesting as most of the footage in the trailer was new unseen footage rather than recycled footage from the previous trailer. This was really good and can only help to promote the film.
A criticism of the X-Men films as a whole is that their seem to be many continuity issues. One such continuity error is that in X-Men: First Class Mystique and Xavier were shown to be very close with a brother/sister relationship however in the first three X-Men films Xavier and Mystique were represented to not actually know each other. These continuity problems will most likely remain unanswered. With this new X-Men film using time travel as one of major themes, they run the risk of making more continutity issues rather than resolving them.
X-Men: Days of Future Past, judging from the trailer alone looks as if it could have the potential to be one of the best comic book movies to date.
